thanks Gideon, i think I’ll have to experiment with imovie until i get the hang of it, then maybe I’ll upgrade.

Niall

@Ashwillan I don’t actually use iMovie – while it’s simple, it’s just too limited. Lately I just use Screenflow. SOOOO much easier.

AshwillanNo GravatarJune 12th, 2010 at 12:10 pm

Thanks Gideon. one other question – how do you rate imovie on the mac for editing?
Thanks
Niall

GideonShalwickNo GravatarJune 12th, 2010 at 12:22 pm

@Ashwillan Hey Niall – it was a Flip Ultra HD camera for this one. But I added a special twist to make it better. Will be revealing the secret soon!

Hi Gideon,
what camera do you use?
Thanks
Niall

For this specific video I used Final Cut Express. But I’ve discovered a far superior combination of tools now. Will be revealing it soon…

cruisinaltitudeNo GravatarJune 12th, 2010 at 2:43 pm

Thanks; nifty. What kind of software did you use for editing?

GideonShalwickNo GravatarJune 12th, 2010 at 3:18 pm

Actually just used one camera this time. But I zoomed in and out with the editing software afterward to give the effect of two cameras.

Works well every time!

Good show Gideon. So it looked like you used two cameras; one wide and the other zoomed in is that right? Otherwise how do you get the zoom in feature? I’m quite intrigued to try it as well :-) .

Thanks.

Hey Kieran

Thanks for your very kind comments!

The mic I am using is really just a cheap old lapel mic – but I use it with a combination of other tools to give the above high quality result.

I’m soon revealing the solution – just subscribe to my newsletter on my blog and you’ll get notified – any time now :) three double u’s dot gideonshalwick dot see oh em.

Wow, you consistently amaze me Gideon – demonstrating your expertise, creativity and professionalism, coupled with your informal approachable self.

Not saying I haven’t seen this style before, but its certainly a winner! It is captivating for the audience by including a mix of live video and slides, as well as the camera angles and slices.

Question for you on the audio microphone equipment attached to your collar – what is it called, and what sort of cost can be expected to buy one?

Hey

Totally agree with you – passion and fun are essential ingredients to success.

I guess I didn’t make that very clear when I was talking about enjoying both the process and the result of what you are doing.

I just used a Flip Ultra HD camera for this recording…
